Futuristic Skew House

The Skew house is a set of a floating light weight flat
and a heavy weight anchor volume; the flat is made
of steel lines and wood planes; and the anchor is concrete
volume. The flat and anchor are connected with very narrow
corridor under the ground. Windows are emerging as voids
between steel-wood units; which are slits of physical materials.
The interior is nothing but minimalistic. Clear lines and milky
white color made the work even though room walls don’t have
traditional forms. They have triangle shape that just add extraordinary
touch to overall interior impression. Minimalist interior which doesn’t
look like other minimalist styled interiors is rare nowadays.

The site is located 10 minutes or less by walk from the nearest station
in Toride-city, Ibaraki. Before building there wasn’t any flat surface
so architect mission was to build the house on the cliff. Mr.
Ueda has managed to build the extraordinary futuristic house
in so hard conditions.

Mid-Century Modern Home Renovation With New Rooms Addition

This 2500-square foot mid-century modern home is designed
by Jill Lewis and Lane Williams of Coop 15 Architecture
and remodeled by Robin Chell Design studio. The renovation
included the addition of a second floor master suite and children’s
rooms. With a goal of maximizing light and space, the design scheme
emphasized the integrity of the mid-century modern structure
while updating the furnishings with durable and natural materials.
Beisdes, the remodel included the reupholstering and refurbishing
of an inherited collection of period furniture. The bathroom now
features a creative pixilated mosaic wall design. The resulting design
successfully integrated the existing furniture while freshening
the interior with new pieces.

Modern Mediterranean House – F House

Nabil Gholam Architecture & Planning is the team responsible
for creating this 1200 square meters mediterranean house.
It is situated on a beatuful hill covered with pine trees.
The landscape almost wasn’t disrupted so most of existing
trees still surround the house. The structure of the house
made of sandstone walls which define generous indoor
and outdoor spaces, while stretching into the garden.

Amazing mountain views are captured in every room
windows. Besides that the house features 5 en-suite bedrooms
for family and guests, large living, dining and recreation areas
to complement the owner’s social lifestyle. Horizontal planes
of cross-cut travertine slabs, cool reflecting water ponds,
sun shading and man-made materials are things that mostly
characterize the house.

Modern House Design With Black And White Interior

This modern house is designed by Paulíny Hovorka
Architekti in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia. It’s overlooking
mountains, has an easy access to the town and quiet homelike
surroundings. Due to the sloping of the site the lower level
features a garage and service rooms while the second level
features all residential areas. The residential level is separated
for two zones: day and night. The day’s part consists of a living
room/kitchen, pantry and home office. It is orientated parallel
to the street providing for the visual connection to the site entrance.
Home office with adjoining bathroom can also serve as guest
accommodation. Master bedroom with two children rooms
are facing rear garden. The whole house is done in super modern style.

The interior features strictly black and white color theme, only flat
surfaces and a lot of glossy furniture pieces. It’s connected with
the exterior via large sliding doors. Swimming pool, timber deck
and garden provide a cool space for leisure time activities.

Dark Single-Family House on a Very Small Inner City Lot

This 2,300 square feet single-family house is located
on a very small inner city lot in the one of the city’s
oldest neighborhoods. This neighborhood was ravaged
by the Great Fire of 1917 and, more recently, by a new
freeway half a block from the site so the topographic
conditions wasn’t very well during the construction.
Although BLDGS architects managed to overwhelm
all bad conditions and build the nice contemporary
house with a quite usual for them dark exterior.

The interior of the house is a direct response on urban
conditions. The multi-faceted planes of the exterior walls
define, through mass and materials, the spaces and elements
of the residential interior, further linking the house to the city.
At the center of the plan a skylight pierces the upper level
to bring natural light to the main level, providing a vertical
connection between the floors.
