Renovated Eighteenth Century House With An Addition

The renovation of this Eighteenth Century homestead in an apple orchard located in Columbia Country, New York is done by Messana O’Rorke. The house was built of huge hand hewn timbers. This, some wide board flooring and a miraculously preserved wattle and daub wall in the field stone basement are about all that remained of the original house.

It has become a minimalist and modern house with an addition, bold but simple combination of old and new.

Each building stands alone yet interconnected. Even though interiors became quite minimalist they are still very cozy. A lot of vintage elements, wooden beams and a fireplace make it so.
