'TRON designs Corian®



'TRON designs Corian®' is project which translates the set of disney's recent release of TRON, into an installation of tangible living solutions designed in Corian®. a movie-influenced design show by disney and DuPont®, the presentation entitled the 'safe house' displayed during milan design week 2011, brings together original technological solutions developed by international designers and companies, into one space.






The international line-up of designers and companies involved in the project include:altha, capo d'opera, ernestomeda, giulio cappellini, jacuzzi, LAGOstudio, TAO esterno, shai akram, jordi canudas, andrew haythronthwaite, dror benshetrit, aquilialberg, setsu and shinobu ito, ilaria marelli, gwenael nicolas, marco piva, luxit, molo, shicon and SONY.
The overall scenography and iconic elements found through 'TRON designs Corian®' have been produced by altha. they have recreated the space so that it translates the set of the movie to the fullest, offering visitors a step into the world of TRON.

Lago designed the living room of the space with contributions by shai akram, jordi canudas, andrew haythronthwaite and LAGOstudio


Setsu and shinobu ito developed outdoor furnishings for the set in partnership with TAO esterno






TRON influenced installation by disney and IED

The architectural lighting solutions are provided by luxit, whose electroluminescent tape is used to outline the illuminated grid of light which spatially defines the set.
The luminescent TRON style blue grid throughout the 'safe house' on the floor, wall and ceiling is made with a special light tape electroluminescent film.


Flynn's arcade designed by gwenael nicolas and fabricated by altha




French-born japan-based designer gwenael nicolas was responsible for an interpretation of the movie's flynn's arcade within the installation. he constructed 'brick walls' made from Corian® which were back lit, providing a cool light through the area. on the floor, large SONY bravia flat screen televisions were placed, playing scenes from the original TRON movie, acting somewhat as 'stepping stones' into the main showroom.
